Theoretical comparison - KAT5 switcher vs Matrix

Keith,

I know you're still working on the design for the switcher but would
be grateful if you could answer these questions. I'm nearly finished
buying all the components for a complete house
automation/video/IR/audio/lighting system (nearly £12k so far!) and
just about to start installation. I would like to know whether to
wait for your switcher (I guess still many months away?) or to go
for a composite video matrix switcher. The questions are:

1) Will the quality of your switcher rival that of a composite video
matrix switcher (e.g. from Extron and many other broadcast video
companies)?

2) Many matrix switchers are available from just a few in/outs up to
many hundreds but commonly 8/12/16 in/outs. Do you know yet how many
in/outs you will support? And will it switch audio simultaneously?

3) The cheapest video matrix switcher I've found so far costs around
£1000 (dealer price). Do you have any idea what ball-park price
range you'll be aiming for (and I understand that may be difficult
to answer as development is still in progress).

I don't really want to put in a relatively expensive system now,
only to find out your switcher is available a few months down the
line and more capable! (which I'm sure it will be).

Thanks,

Paul.
