The IR upgrade will be a daughter board that will fit above the existing
PCB. The IR receivers and emitters will be external to the KAT5 units
connected via 3.5mm jack sockets.

I am trying to find a different case for the Mk2 that will allow all
connectors to be on the rear and have a front panel that will allow the IR
to get through to an internal receiver. Finding a suitable case at an
affordable price is prooving to be the moist difficult part :-(

There are loads of cases that would do the job but at > £15 just for the
case there are waaayyy too expensive.

Am I right in thinking the following:

1) When the Mk2 units are ready they'll have IR signal path as
standard.

2) There will also be IR upgrade kits for the original KAT5 units.

Good luck with the development Keith. I for one would be keen to
understand how the IR upgrade will fit together in the Mk1 units - in
terms of Photo Diodes, IR LED's, additional electronics, wiring etc.
