Hi Jonathan
KAT5 is NOT Ethernet based. It uses the PHYSICAL medium of CAT5 cable to
carry the signals in the same way that telephone lines can also be patched
over CAT5 cable.
A CAT5 cable should only ever be used for a single purpose but the
flexibility of being able to patch connections means that you can easily
change that purpose.
If by "Same Cabling" you mean the same physical cable, you cant
do it. KAT5
requires all 4 pairs so there would be nothing left for any other
connection
and the comments above should always be adhered to.
If by "Same Cabling" you mean the infrastructure of multiple CAT5
cables you
have installed in your home then there is no problem whatsoever. If you
have
3 cables running from your patch panel to your computer desk you can
happily
run Ethernet for the PC on one cable, the phone line on the second and an
AV
feed on the third using KAT5.
So to sum it up... you CANT run KAT5 on your computer network but you can
run multiple KAT5 links and Computer Networks on the same infrastructure.
Hope that helps
Keith
