Component values are different and although it would be possible to make
the
units switchable between audio and video the extra parts would increase the
cost. Also the amps used for video are considerably more expensive than the
audio parts.

Having said that, the Mk2 units will be capable of being assembled as RGB
(4
Video) without the extra work currently involved the the Mk1 units.

The terminations WILL be switchable in the Mk2 units.

It wouldnt work as the circuitry is not suitable for carrying the DC
signals
used by an IR repeater. You could however "adapt" a CAT5 Patch
cable and
break out the Brown/White pair (7&amp;8) at each end and connect that
to
whatever IR repeater system you might already have. Havent tried it but I
dont see why you couldnt do it. Obviously not an option for someone using
S-Video though as they would lose the Chroma signal and end up with a Black
and White picture!
