Hi Anthony

Just had a look at the Octopus system and that is sold as a complete system
with sources connected to the central hub. Video is an add on and is only
Composite Video.
KAT5 by default sends Stereo Audio and S-Video or Composite (Component and
RGB options are also available to special order). KAT5 is designed to be
connected to an AV source such as a Digibox and the distant end connects
to
a TV/Plasma/Projector/AV amp as required.
At the moment KAT5 is basically a point to point link that functions exatly
the same as a SCART lead but can be used over long distances with no
noticable loss in quality.
A Matrix switcher is under development which will allow multiple sources to
be selected and controlled from any room.

Yes. IR signals from the viewing room are passed back to the source
equipment. At present KAT5 only accepts a single source but that source
could be an output from any commercially available Video switcher.
> What can affect picture or sound quality?
Nothing if installed correctly. KAT5 will give you perfect pictures and
sound.
Hope that helps
