Hi All
Getting well into .mp3's at the moment. For those of you that have
been on another planet for the last 12 months mp3 (MPEG Layer
3) files are a compressed sound format. With a compression ratio
of around 11:1 you can convert a CD track that's been ripped to
your hard drive as a .wav file from around an average 50 meg to an
.mp3 file of under 5 meg!!
Looks like any future home jukebox system I will use will be a PC
with a big drive storing mp3 files. A 6 gig drive (now around 110 +
vat) will store over 1700 songs!!!
If this could be integrated with the HomeVision then from the TV
you should be able to kick off at least a set playlist (if not individual
tunes). You could have a menu with...Electronic, Rock, Irish, 80s
etc etc.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has setup anything like I
describe or who has a HA controller operating an external mp3
player like Winamp.
Thanks
Mark
