Re: TV and sound over CAT5

Hi Ashley,

RF is the normal TV signal received via the aerial.
It contains many TV channels and requires a tuner to extract the required
signal. I also requires a huge bandwidth on the cable. With UHF the
frequency range is 470-860 MHz.

Composite Video is the signal that contains the information you want to
see, ie the picture. That is the signal that comes out of the SCART or AV
phono sockets on your TV and Video recorder.

I am building some boxes to send Composite Video and Audio over CAT5 as
balanced signals. I now have 3 printed circuit board designs finished and
have a few more to do before the finished products will be available but
work is now progressing nicely. (After a VERY long delay).

I will post to the group as soon as they are ready.

Keith,

OK so whats Composite Video and Audio. Is RF TV the stuff we get from
teh arial. Isn't there some way of applying a simple converter and
turning it into something that can be run. On the sound front I read
elsewhere that it should be possible to use a balanced signal. DO you
know of any boxes that can take the output from the amp and sned it
down and then convert it back at the other end. Sorry to be a
ignoramous about all this stuff, but yoru help is appreciated.

Regards
Ashley.
