Take a look at www.matrix-orbital.com they do LCD's and VFDs that you can
control via ther serial port (very easy) . Their VFDs also have for
CD/Tapedeck characters in them. There are also a couple of links to other
people's MP3 players, one of which is a Linux offering for which you can
get
the source free.. It uses an LCD but there shouldn't be too much of a
problem converting.
