A quick update on this ....

I have just rung the company who said that they would send out some details
(in the next week) for me to read, before I commit any cash.

I did quiz them about the offer and basically they expect you to complete a
survey every month of around 20 multiple-choice questions. After two years,
the PC is yours (old-of -date I know, but still maybe a good HA PC).

This sort of thing was done in the States last year. It might be a clever
scam i.e. They keep all out hundreds of pounds in the bank for 2-3 months
then refund it without supplying the PC. If they get enough punters it is
a
nice little earner in terms of interest.
Or it could be a really good deal for a HA PC :-)

I recently heard on the radio about an offer of a new 500MHz for ?100 (or
?125 for credit cards)

The catch is that you have to agree to complete a survey for 2 years - they
state that personal details will be protected and only the anonymous
answers will be sold to third party companies.

Their web site seems to back this up -
http://www.pchelp.co.uk/fanoffer.htm

Has anyone come across this before?

Obviously it could be a serious rip-off (ie. take your money and never send
out the goods or send you loads of junk mail), on the other hand filling in
a few questions each month for a cheap PC is no real hardship.
