Hi
Campbell,
If the
camcorder is in Record Pause then the motor will be running and the heads
spinning against the tape. Most VCR's have a timer which will stop
everything
after about 4 minutes to prevent damage to the heads and tape caused by the
spinning head constantly rubbing against the same area of tape.
You
need to find out if there is an option to just use the camera as a camera
WITHOUT being in record mode. We have a JVC camcorder at work which is
fitted
into a video conferencing setup and is on constantly 24/7 but only as a
camera.
Alternatively why not use one of the cheap board
cameras costing under 70 pounds from somewhere like Henry's http://www.henrys.co.uk It will
definately cheaper than new heads for the camcorder, which is what you will
need
if you do find a way to stop the record mode switching
off.
Also
the board camera would be much smaller and discrete.

I have a canon camcorder (uc5000) which I am
attempting to set up with webcam32/homewatcher. Unfortunately after about 4
minutes on record pause (streaming to pc) it switches itself
off.
I am looking for ideas to keep it on.
I tried x10 supply module off/on but it will
not
be controlled by power supply.
Another option is to put ir signal into
comfort
and use it...
Any other suggestions welcome...
