I have been contacted by email by one member of the group, who has misread
my comments about OS's as a personal attack on folk who use Windows.
I don't know how that came about, but I can only apologise if anyone else
took them the same way. Like Calum, I use lots of different systems
(horses for courses), and wouldn't think of denigrating someone as a
person, or even their technical competence, because of their choice of OS,
it just wouldn't cross my mind. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
For the avoidance of doubt, and upsetting anyone else, maybe I should also
add (lest any of the NI contingent should have misunderstood!) that my
joking about Portstewart and Scotland as holiday destinations is also not
to be taken seriously, having spent every childhood holiday (and a few
since) at the former destination (with the occasional trip to Barry's
amusements in Portrush), and most of my recent holidays (and all of the
best ones) in the latter.
Funnily enough, I remember working out for my parents that it would be
cheaper to buy National Trust membership than pay each day to drive onto
Portstewart Strand- technical help from an early age (and they're still
members...)
Sometimes email gives quite the wrong impression- maybe once we've all had
a chance to meet/speak to each other it'll be easier to think who we're
writing to.
:-)
