Following on from Nigel's mail,

I am setting up an autoswitching cctv system using PIR's as the detection
and comfort as the controller/switch. Assuming two cameras using one relay,
Normally open, normally closed. whichever PIR detects, will look at a flag
to see if it is 0 or 1. Assuming front PIR detects,  If flag=0 then it will
know front camera is on line and send ir signal to video and tv switching
both to the aux channel (you will see them approach if watching tv), it
will
then signal video to record for 30 seconds then signal it to stop and
switch
the tv/video back. If someone approaches the rear, the pir will activate,
check flag see it is 0 switch the relays to suit then run the record
sequence, switching back the relay at the end.

This is all fed to the tv and pc. With the UCM and Ace software it may be
possible to activate the webcam32, homewatcher or other  software thereby
removing the infra red steps for the video I have used.Webcam32 can
distinguish between picture changes but is more efficient as a real time
program, Homewatcher has built in processes for analysing picture changes,
this can be adjusted etc. It is more suited to working with captured images
(this is to my limited knowledge)

Currently I am using Matrox G400 marvel and sometimes webcams on the pc. It
all works reasonably well as long as I remember to put a blank video
in...... :-)
