Hi Patrick,

Your review concurs exactly with that of some of my workmates who went
yesterday.

The only "Live" event I have been to was Live '95 and I was
expecting all
the coolest home cinema stuff. I was very disappointed to find that
companies like Pace and Ferguson were not even represented at the show. In
fact even then it seemed to be full of kids playing computer games. :-(

I usually visit PLASA (Professional Light and Sound Association) at Earls
Court at the beginning of September but was unable to go this year. Thats
where the big boys toys are.

JVC-Hughes LightValve projectors giving a 100Hz image 40ft x 24 ft @
£125,000

Amplifiers rated at a measley 3kW per channel. Rack Mount Only 1U high but
about 3 feet deep!

Dimmer packs rated at 40A per channel.

I'm glad I chose not to go with them.

Just got back from Live 2000. Probably the most disappointing
show I have ever been to. Save your money and wander down
the High Street instead. If you're hoping to see the latest cutting
edge technology and upcoming products (a la CeBit), you will be
sorely disappointed.

I'll be writing to ask for my money back -  there were so few
exhibitors that it took less than an hour to cover the lot. The show
was dominated by mobile phone operators, Sony, Yamaha, and
ISPs such as Freeserve.

Sadly, no sexy new must have gadgets on display -- and less
than nothing home automated related (unless you count an
internet enabled microwave and fridge). The only saving grace:
Some very cool Sharp LCD based  TV's from 12" to 28", and the
new Ericsson R380 phone-cum-organiser.
