Is there a commonly used mechanical failsafe to stop it running continously
if the solenoid fails or jams? Maybe you could use a ballcock arrangement
in the water to mechanically shut it off if it gets too full? Or just
close down the water supply so it's fastest flow is only slightly more than
the fastest rate that the water can go down?
If it's at the bottom of the garden or something, you might not notice the
water running continuously if there's a fault.
