Thanks for the info on this. The help sheet was light (no pun!) in
information on the dawn/dusk sensor.
The fact that you cant (software) disable this function seems dumb. You
said
you have 8 MS13's; so does that mean that you tie up an entire TM12 with
the
8 MS13 codes plus the +1 for all of them?
Anyway, with your help, I have now changed the Homeseer configuration so I
do not get accidental triggering of the +1 macro (which incidentally was my
living room lights off, so caused problems to SWMBO).

Steve,
The ms13's control two X10 addresses; N for motion detection, and N+1
for dawn/dusk (or more correct daylight/dark).
Suppose the room is dark, and motion is detected. The MS13 sends E10
on; you turn on a light, the room gets lighter and the MS13 sends E11 off
(daylight). A bit later on the MS13 sends E10 off, you turn off the
light,
the room goes dark and the MS13 sends E11 on (nighttime).
You need to either not use N+1, or disable the night sensor. I believe
you can do the latter by sticking a bit of black tape somewhere, you'll
need
to search around to find out where. I chose the former - I let the MS13s
send day/night, but I pretty much ignore them.
P.S. When replacing the batteries in an MS13, don't forget to reprogram
the house code/unit code. That one caught me out yesterday :-(

Thanks for the help.
I have the MS13 set to send on/off at all times. I have Homeseer, but the
macro is not dawn/dusk aware yet.
The problem I had was that I was getting a trigger on the E11 macro (even
though the unit is set to E10). The device does see the light it controls,
so what stops the MS13 sending out this 'dusk' signal (I assume that is
what
the E11 code is for??)?
Cheers - Steve

It's not usual to get the daytime/dusk frequently; unless you're actually
sitting in a dim office/room.
Can the sensor see the light its controlling? That'll really bugger you
up
- and that's why I don't use the dusk sensor on any of the (8) MS13's I
have
around the place - I just rely on homeseer's daytime/nightime settings.

Cool, thanks Paul.
I was sure that was the daylight sensor. Dumb ha. A few words on the help
sheet would have helped.
I got the thing working now; is it normal for it to send odd codes?
I have it set to E10; but sometimes I get both E10 and E11 when it detects
movement (this causes two macros to fire). If this is normal 'odd'
behaviour; fine. If not, I guess I will need to return it.

There's a small clear plastic 'thing' on the front that looks like an o
with
a horizontal bar on it. You need to lever this out with a fine
screwdriver
or a pin. There's a single crosshead screw behind it that releases the
battery cover.

Ok; So I have just received my first MS13E.
The (less than useful) instructions say 'Remove the battery cover on the
front....'
HOW ? - I have tried pushing, pulling, sliding to the point that I think
something is going to break.
Anybody out there care to let me in on the secret of removing the cover?
Thanks - Steve
