It is plugged directly into the wall box, they put in two point the other one does the TV box which works OK.

The problem with the Cable Modem is the LED for the cable connection not coming on when it boots up, I reckon the guys who installed didn't check the port was live before they left.

Would it do any harm to connect it to the TV port which does work or is this a separate channel to the modem?

Try plugging the coax lead to it directly into their wall box ... a cablemodem point is nothing more complex than an extension point for running a set top box.

Well NTL called yesterday and installed the port for my cable modem, I connected it up last night did it work? did it buggery, after about 3 hours of phone calls they have to send someone out to check it. When? next Tuesday.

To the point, I need information on setting up a network between 4 PCs to allow shared access to the cable modem, can anyone recommend a source of info that doesn't get too heavy.

Thanks

Alancc (still on a dial up)
