Uncanny!

Please also tell them that I'd STILL prefer a serial device if at all
possible - I usually disable the LPT port on all my PC's in the BIOS, and I
usualy do that as soon as I get them, (i.e. before I install an OS on
them...)

The very same applies to my HA machine, which now has a nice stable build
of
W2K Pro on it, with NO parallel port device enabled in it... This machine
is
packed to the gunnells with add-in cards, and system resources (IRQ's, DMA
channels, I/O addresses etc. etc.) are at a premium. I'd be *really*
reluctant to monkey around with that machine by re-enabling the parallel
port, and opening myself up for whatever chaos the Plug & Pray system
might
then try to wreak on this machine!

Half the battle in getting it to the stable state it is (seems to be) in at
the moment, was to get it working with SIX serial ports, - of which I still
have one spare....
