Altho the theoretical maximum radiated power may be 100mW or 500/1000mW
depending on what you read, nearly all 802.11b cards that I've seen put out
around 30mW, for reasons of power conservation and heat dissipation.
I've seen a couple of cards in the 100mW region, but these came with fancy
antennae and were aimed at the point-to-point link market.
I guess your US devices get CE compliance because they're well below 100mW.
