Blimey, I'd let my puppy pee on your carpet for that price!
I priced some RAM for the 2400 and that was bloody expensive although
Kingston.
Yesterday I built a Compaq ????? that had 4 off Xeon CPU's ??MHz, it also
had 2GB RAM and IIRC I fitted 8 off 18.1 GB HDD's, I almost ran off with it
but it was bloody heavy!
I will ask our sales staff for some quotes for you on Monday, maybe put
them
on the back of another order? that server yesterday cost around £25K I
would
have licked your carpet clean for that!
Ill see if I can help, hope so I owe you a favour or two....
B.
PS if you need it setting up..........

Guys,
Just got my Proliant 6400R shipped from the USA.
Of course, I thought I had all the bits to complete the system, it
was missing drives, cpus and memory.
I have four xeon500 processors with the voltage regulator boards, and
I have the hard drives also.
What I didn't have is the memory, and I have just found out to my
horror that I MUST INSTALL 4 DIMMS AT A TIME, due to the way the xeon
chipset works in a 4-way interleaved fashion.
I have searched all my regular haunts for memory (scan, ebuyer) and
the cheapest I can find is £265 for each 256mb Dimm (Kingston), so a
gig of memory is going to cost over £1000....ouch !
Anyone know anywhere else I could try for generic.
Spec of Dimms :-
128, 256, 512 EDO RAMS with Parity 50 or 60 ns
Many Thanks in advance....
Regards
Geraint
