Geraint,

I have recently approached SEEBOARD regarding the new supply to my house. I
intend to house the meter on the edge of the plot and run 100 metres or so
of my own cable to the house. When discussing the meter box I enquired
about
this type of problem and was told I could use my own lock as long as I
supplied one key to them for their use. . .

This may differ for each electricity board ?

Nigel

It seems the young kids of the village have a new game, it's called
switching off people's MAINS POWER.

I live in a newish house, and the electricity box and meter are
mounted at the front of the house next to the garage.

The box uses those triangle shaped keys, but are very easy to open
with a pair of long-nose pliers.

I want to be able to secure the box, but i'm not sure on the
legality, as I think the box is actually owned by Manweb.

Choices are to put a lock barrel on, or a magnetic lock.

Problem is, that the elctricity board come to read the meter, and I
don't think they will be too happy about not being able to access it.

Any ideas ?
