Re: Futronix 2+ channel dimmers

Hi Paul,

I'm a stockist/distributor for Futronix. The P100, P400 and P800 are all
excellent dimmers. The P100 2 channel dimmer is good value for money - the
finishes of the plates are very good - although Futronix seem to be
standardising on the choice of either Polished Brass, Chrome, Stainless
Steel or White.
The P100 fits into a standard single gang back box - deep one though (and
doesn't fit in dry lining boxes). When wiring for a P100 you'll need to
provide a live, neutral, earth and two 'dimmed' lives. DON'T bring all
your
cables back to the dimmer - there isn't enough room to common cables in the
box and still fit the dimmer - and the terminal block on the PCB is tiny.
Either use a 5 core 1.0mm or a 1.0mm T&E + 2 No. 1.0mm grey/red running
from
the dimmer to a connection block in a suitable place. I've had customers
in
the past whose electricians have run everything back to the dimmer -
multiple 1.5mm T&E tails filling the box etc... Doh !
Setting up is fairly straightforward, dimming is excellent - quiet and
smooth (64 steps). If you're going to use HV to control it then you
shouldn't have any problems. The IR pickup on the P100 is very good.

If you want one let me know and I'll give you a good price. Futronix trade
prices are set to increase soon.

I'm currently wiring for a Futronix system in my own home - Enviroscene 805
8 x 5A + S805 8 x 5A slave pack with 7 zones communicating with HV on RS485
port + 2 No. P100s + 1 No. P400.

Regards

Simon
