I knew you'd bring up the "way too much cable"
I put in 2-3 times more than I had planned. SWMBO thinks i'm a
lunatic (probably correct).
When I finally get the patch cabinet finished, I think you'll see why
i've seperated the patching. I've kept things seperate to make easy
to manage.
A colleague at work is just buying a new house now, and had the offer
of cabling done whilst in construction. Even though he is interested
in Home Theatre, I still couldn't persuade him to get more CAT5
installed. He has one cable run to each room.
Even my team leader who runs several servers at home, only ran 16
runs of cable.
I explained all the things like video over cat5 to them, and i guess
they'll regret not running more down the line.
What I did do though, is make the running of additional cables easy
for later expansion, as have a hollow feed from Node 0 direct into
roof area, it's going to be behind a cupboard, so i've had forward
planning on that.
I have been caught out before myself.
Regards
Geraint
