I had the same problem and solved it by opting for a proper tape backup
system
This allows me all my data like mp3, pictures,& videos, on the raid 0
with
the knowledge I can put them back if I need to alter, redo, lose, or add to
the stripe.
Although redundant does solve a lot of the problems it still leaves you a
problem in the future if you want to change the server set up
I get 12 gigs to a tape

Asking here because its relevant as it will be going into a machine to
serve MP3's for the house.
Are there any PCI cards that provide RAID for a collection of IDE
drives? I mean Redundant - not the striping/mirroring crap that the
promise cards do? I hate the idea of losing weeks of MP3's due to a
drive dying.
