Will this still read the temp okay inside a copper tube?

The one I have in the Meerkat nest box was slid down inside a protective
wire cage "tube" but the little gits have gradually torn the wire
to bits

It wont be much longer before the sensor is touching the heating element!

Good to see how long it takes them to eat through a copper tube!

The best suggestion I've seen is to mount the 1820 inside a short length of
copper tude, then bung the ends up with silicone. The copper provides
excellent heat transfer and the silicone prevents your 1820 becominf
corroded.
