only the US modules that advertise themselves as supporting status request,
this means that you can poll a device to confirm that what HV believes the
condition of the device is actual correct.

Yes much.

Thats really frustrating you can't receive from appliance and light
modules.

So because HV has the functionality built in to receive - I assume the US
appliance & light modules do send to HV.

I'm going for a drink now, I've learnt something

Thanks for your explanation and help

Nigel

1) correct

2) & 3) I think you may be getting confused because there is a company
called x10 as well as the protocol x10 (how the device talk to each other
across the mains). forgetting about the company, not all devices can send
and receive commands; e.g for UK models

UNIT Send Receive

Appliance modules N Y
Light Modules N Y
Light Switches N Y
Motion Detectors Y N
Maxi Controllers Y N
Mini Controllers Y N

Is that any clearer?

Paul

Thanks but a little confused

If I read it right

1) HV has the functionality to cope.

2) In Uk non "X10 manufactured" units can send a X10 command.

3) But X10 "manufactured" units cannot.

If I am correct where can I purchase controllers such as light switches
which do work ?

Thanks

Nigel

HV will listen for other devices sending a X10 command and then alter the
X10 status within HV to reflect the change.

BUT, in the UK only other controllers or motion detectors, keypads etc can
SEND a X10 command the standard units such as appliance modules, light
modules and light switches cannot send X10 commands hence they cannot show
they have been switched on by a local control.

Does anyone know,

In a UK setup using Homevision and X10 units.

The Homevision spec states it "monitors" the X10 units for their
state
(on/off etc).

Is this still true for the UK spec X10 units.

Thanks

nigel
