The NTL press release that was up on the BBC web site said that they would
be doing a 128/512 line for £20 a month and a 64/64 line for £5 a month so
I
would assume if they're lobbing a cablemodem in at £25 then the £10 would
include the modem too.

However, for the dough then who wants to go 64/64 when we're all a bunch of
techno freaks and want the best, fastest or whizziest toys around?

Looks like it's a goer for me then. The current detail (for 128k/512k line)
is £25/m inc modem or £20/m ex modem. As there is only one approved modem
at
present and it costs £150 the inclusive price looks even better. As Michael
mentioned there is a 64k version of £10/m (not sure if modem is included),
but if your treating yourself I always believe in spending lots of money!

One techy questions that I'm sure I know the answer to is this. If my ISP
is
now NTL, I can still retrieve emails from my existing ISP smtp/pop service
can't I?

Also, does anyone use Nortons Personal Firewall software. Currently I use
ZoneAlarm on my dialup connection (damn good for a freebie) but want a more
configurable program for the cable modem.
