Putting a local switch on my appliance module did the trick, for me
and my wife. I can see the problem, the only other ways of turning
the bloomin things on and off are via Comfort's telephone menus or
the mini-timer at the bedside- neither of those seem to be a
particularly big advanced step from a 'switch'...
Without wanting to start an X10 rant again, I've got all my christmas
lights (tree, back yard, dining room, mirrorball (oh yes!)) on X10
modules, and running via comfort to switch them on when someone
enters the room, and keep them on for 15-20 mins.
Having done that, it is obvious that X10 just isn't fast enough for
automated lighting- it's actually surprisingly unsettling walking
into a darkened room and waiting even a second for the light to come
on (no, I'm not afraid of the dark). And the delay isn't due to
comfort, I have other wired responses which are virtually instant.
It's great to turn the teamaker/microwave/kettle/decorative lights on
and off though... and to make the house look occupied when it's not.
