Yes, I think IR has too many restrictions to make it a suitable solution

Doing some more surfing last night, I came acrosss a picture of someone
holding an ipaq in their hand, now either this person had double size
hands,
or the ipaq is half the size I had pictured in my head :)

Mark, are you planning on getting a pcmcia sleeve by any chance, I get the
impression that even with the sleeve and pcmcia card that the extra size
and
weight may not be as big a drawback as I had assumed.

Hmmm, pity stock levels are so low on the ipaqs and the pcmcia sleeve, I
reckon I need a touchy feeley session with the whole ensemble to decided if
it is worth the money, although I am beginning to think it is :)

Comapaq had a research unit similar to the ipaq, called the itsy, and
another called the skiff personal server. The ipaq looks like it is a
combination of these two reserach projects. Only problem for me is the itsy
used a daughtercard for expansGN=3 and the skiff had a built in pcmcia/CF
slot. Guess which design philosophy went to market :(
