Then the job you're trying t d is a lot more manageable ... and there's a lot you can do without spending a huge amount of dough!

Thanks Phill I will get in touch in a few weeks time, I don't need t soundproof because of the bedrooms I just want t create the correct acoustics and minimize the sound leakage to a reasonable level.

Oh crust! You are taking on one of the most difficult projects there is ... soundproofing is almost impossible unless you can design a room from the ground up t be soundproof in the first place.

I'm happy t discuss what knowledge I have of this but it is a huge (and I mean huge) project in itself and the only thing I can tell you with any degree of certainty is that you won't manage it half as well as you would expect! This isn't t cast any bad vibes on your abilities but is just more an indication on how ocscenely difficult soundproofing is...

...redefine the problem as sound deadening, tell the missus that you'll do the best you can t make it quieter, pull my info of Mark's website and give me a call.

Wey Hey! it looks as though I will be able t convert our Den into a bigger room for AV use. I know several of you have dedicated AV rooms, what materials did you use for construction, I have bedrooms above so noise insulation  is important. Are there any design criteria as t ceiling height to floor area, should I have heavy curtains at the back t stop reflections?

Any advice would be appreciated as I am at the design stage now.
