Personally I'd recommend looking at the classified ads in Home Cinema
Choice
and What TV & Video (and on their website) ... they have a few second
hand
Sony VP400QM Widescreen LCD projectors (were about £5k) up there for about
£1,600.

I haven't seen anything below about £3.5k (new) that I'd realy consider
using for video...
