Forget the modem idea, go for the CTI Meteor from Crucible. I have one and
it works without a hitch. Bonus is that you get logging of outgoing calls
t o. The software is very stable. My machine runs Windows NT 4.0 and I have
had it run for about 4 1/2 weeks up time with no reboots and the Meteor
just keeps going. I still use the computer for Windows CE and desktop
programming and doing s  tends t  casue the debuggers within them t  crash
but NT keeps going.
