To quote from another stream on UKHA right now... "future
proofing"
although it's probably more likely "so I can be the first of my
friends
to have one..."

I've been really happy with my GeForce 2 GTS, but I only bought the
32MB version... so I have two options for a 64MB card - get another
GeForce 2 GTS or stretch for the GeForce 3... I'll most likely stumble
along with my current card until the GF3 comes down in price (and you're
right - wait until there's more software/DirectX support).

I do hit the limit on my current card - mainly in FPS games where I'd
like to run in high resolution and good colour depth... it seems fine
at lower settings and with other applications (Premiere video editing,
etc).

As far as software that seems t stretch my card - Tribes 2, Dune
Emperor and Colin McRae Racing 2 all seem t give it a good run... very
productive "applications", eh?

<SNIP>

...and the GeForce 3 video cards are, unfortunately, the same price
everywhere - bloody expensive!

<END SNIP>

Why do you want one?

After going through all the nutter graphics cards around I still can't
find the software to do them any justice.
