I don't see how this can work ... the CD changer usually is controlled by the head unit and decodes the audio itself ... it doesn't usually pass the bitstream out t the head unit for decoding.
 
If that's the case then it won't pipe out the audio bitstream for the head unit t do MP3 decoding from discs in the changer. (Also, with the changer being so old may not support CDRs - my Apline 5959 doesn't.)

Well, my cd autochanger in one car is 7 years old - I have a little £10 converter t plug it int my current MASK unit (year old)

They reckon it will work fine - as long as it can talk t it (the changer) you can use it t serve up mp3 cd's
