I've
had one of these nestling in my computer room for some time and it's just a
way of making or breaking the mains supply to the socket (or whatever
single
gang outlet you decide to add to it. You can just put a single gang fused
flex
outlet on it and use that to run an immersion heater for
instance.
Must
admit that they were disappointing when you see the American X10 switches
...
demoting a double socket to a single should be against the law! They do
have
their uses though ... I was hoping for X10 controlled sockets for the AV
room
(for powering off subwoofers and power amps which have no remote) and still
may use these but I'll probably use AD10s instead.
Cheers
Phil
It
looks like a standard clipsal single gang 13A socket so just disconnect it
and replace with a non switched one. I doubt you would be able to remove
the
switch as it would be an integral part of the socket. I also guess that the
switch is a normal latching one so if you turn the switch Off then On is
would sense that and trun on locally but wouldnt turn off. If the switch
was
turned off the thing would be totally off just like using the switch on a
table lamp etc when plugged into Appliance/Lamp
modules.
Note: Above comments based soley on looking at the
picture.
Maybe Mike can clarify / confirm what I have
speculated.

Would I be right in assuming that the switch on this unit is a
momentary switch which would reverse the current state? Also can we assume
that the unit is as dumb as the rest of the UK units, i.e. no status
reporting. If this is the case then what is the possiblity of removing the
switch and putting one of those clipsal blanking plates in to disable
local control?
