Subject: [thermochron] RELEASE: 1-Wire SDK for Windows Version 4.00
Alpha

The 4.00 Alpha version of the new 32-Windows 1-Wire SDK (formerly
known as the iButton-TMEX SDK) is available on the FTP site.

This SDK covers some new territory for us. It is the first
release of a Component Object Model (COM) solution for developing
1-Wire applications under Microsoft Windows. The COM DLL provided
with this release is compatible with almost any programming
language that works on 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems.
The underlying implementation of each interface is a Java class,
which utilizes our current Java 1-Wire API. This makes our
richest collection of support classes for Dallas Semiconductor's
1-Wire devices available to a variety of programming and scripting
environments including C++, VisualBasic, JScript, and VBScript.

Not only does this kit provide COM support, but it also provides
documentation and source code examples for our standard TMEX API.
Many of the 32-bit Windows example programs contained in the previous
kit are still available in this kit. Please note that anybody still
developing for DOS and 16-bit Windows will be out of luck with this
kit, but will still be able to download the previous kit (V3.10)
from our website.

NOTE: **** Please install the iButton-TMEX runtime environment of
3.20 beta or higher for proper functioning of the COM
object. You can download the runtime environment here:
ftp://ftp.dalsemi.com/pub/auto_id/softdev/softdev.html#rte

What's New since 3.10:
----------------------------
1. COM object (OWAPI.DLL) with documentation and installation.
2. COM example programs/scripts written in Visual Basic, VBScript
and JScript (includes a Visual Basic Thermochron example!).
3. A TMEX API addendum documenting changes and enhancements for
Version 3.20 of the TMEX API.
4. An example program utilizing code that maps Software Authorization
function calls into the correct TMEX libraries.

NOTE: **** Un-install the old version first ****

Self-extracting install:
