Nah, this is a hoax guys.... it circulated on a couple of motorbike related
mailing lists I am on a few weeks ago, and was thoroughly debunked.

SVVD/SPECS are genuine, for real speed control measures, the Blue Poles are
*only* for traffic master. (and, asides from anything else, don't carry
Home
Office Type Approval to be used for enforcement purposes: these things are
like 60% accurate at licence plate recognition)

The SPECS/SVVD system has to cameras, complete with IR pods seperated by
100m, or roughly one motorway gantry apart.

There is one on the M8 in Glasgow, between Cathedral Junction, and the next
gantry. They look like a clump of three cameras, and almost always have one
of those mobile illuminated signs beside them on the road.

Have a look at "the speedtrap bible" (forget the URL I'm afraid)
it goes
into a *lot* of detail on Britain's speedtraps/technology
