I remember reading about a small village that bough a big F.O. wind powered
generator. It cost about 180K from memory. However within something like
6
years they had paid it off and were selling their surplus back to the grid!

I would stick to a decent UPS and forget the generation side.
UPS won't run your heating or your freezer!
