Data to be built from File names and paths. With a bit of manipulation I
was
able to quickly convert all track filenames to begin with the track number
(by extracting it from the tags). I have registered this software and now

I've just read the Audiotron review, I purchased one in the UK a few weeks
ago.
You can purchase one from outpost.com who will ship to the UK.  There is no
duty to pay, only the VAT.
I'm using mine over Ethernet and find that 2000 tracks take about 10 mins
to
catalogue.  I also hit problems with the ide tags, I spent two weeks of
free
time ripping all my CDs.  However my software did not include the track
number in the tag.  As a consequence Auditron plays album tracks in
alphabetical order.  If the track numbers are included it plays in track
sequence.  Only 2000 tags to fix!  I have also confirmed that files from
more than one PC on the network can be accessed.  You set up an NT
userid/password and a sharename for 9x, it will use these to access any
shared drives.  It can also access Linux files, although this is not
supported & I have not tried this, I assume it uses samba.
Two minor problems I have found are that the power supply buzzes.  This can
be resolved by placing something heavy on top of the Audiotron.  The other
minor problem is that it fails to catalogue all tracks when it starts up.
You have to press the 'net' button once its finished cataloguing to get it
to search for additional files.
I am very impressed with the unit, its easy to set-up and use, the sound
quality is good.  It has never skipped even though its connected to an old
PII 200, you can increase the buffer if required.  This reduces disk
accesses and may save the disk from premature failure.  (people seem to
have
problems with disk failures on Tivos)
