RE: DDAR Servers

I havent seen one specifically but I am having trouble finding any relevant
sites about the product except those mirroring the press release. I
noticed
Dr John mentioned it could read from any device so maybe it is possible.

Dr John: I guess you already have one of these beasts so you might be able
to answer this. Do you configure the source of the mp3s through the server
software? I guess all you can do on the DDAR itself is point the box at an
IP address?

Us linux geeks need more details ;-) (although I have to admit to owning a
small win95 box just in case!)

Hope this helps

Kieran

Mark,

I have been looking into this and interestingly the DDAR is actually
running
linux internally on an ARM processor. Although I have yet to find the
exact
details I am guessing you could get away with an smb share from your linux
box. If you do find anything on the web please let me know as I have
tried
most search engines.

In case anyone is interested this is a rebadged sonicblue rio receiver as
can be seen on riohome.com. However thats selling for 300 USD so 140 UKP
sounds like a bargain to me.

As an aside I found out the audiotron is running CE which should cheer the
cockles on all those windows fans out there ;-)

Thanks
Kieran

Does anyone know if these have to be used with Dells
server software or if they can just search generic
windows network style shares ?

(I'm looking at using a unix box and samba :)

Cheers,

Mark.
