This is just a example, do we think we should do the folowing for all
the devices before sorting out how they will talk.

Example Functional Description

Device: TCP/IP Lighting Controller

Summary: A device that will control the light level of four outputs
by using phase angle control of a TRIAC, receiving instructions via
TCP/IP or by a local RS485 or by DS 1 wire bus.

Detail:

The controller will be designed to handle 4 lighting channels, i.e. a
room controller, the power outputs will be protected by a fuse and a
relay on each channel, there will also be a temperature sensor
mounted on the heat sink to allow for thermal shutdown.

The unit will respond to the following commands from TCP/IP:-

Switch on channel x at full
Switch off channel x
Switch all channels on at full
Switch all channels off
Switch all channels on to previous level.
Set channel x to level ##%
Set channels w,x,y,z to level ##1%,##2%,##3%,##4%
Set ramp speed to #
Disable RS485 Control
Enable RS485 Control
Disable DS1 wire control
Enable DS1 wire control
Report unit temperature
Set shutdown temperature to ##
Enable or disable auto restart on temperature shutdown
Load scene 0-7 with level ##1%,##2%,##3%,##4%
Ramp to scene 0-7
Go to scene 0-7
Report levels ##1%,##2%,##3%,##4%
Perform Reset
Notify MAC address
