This gets my vote. Only really useful on a 4 line display. Does anyone
have an idea of how cheap LCD displays can be in quantity? RS have prices
from as little as a 5.94 for a 16x1 TN alphanumeric reflective display to
30
quid-ish for a 20x4 STN backlit in single quantities.
Perhaps we should start low and cheap with a 16x1 'dumb' display. This
could be used to display simple status data such as temperature, date/time.
Once we have this working over Ethernet & TCP/IP (if that's the way we
decide to go), it should give us confidence to tackle a more ambitious
version with buttons/feedback (and proof that our architecture/design
actually holds water).
Matrix-Orbital http://www.matrix-orbital.com (US
based) have a good range as
well as Crystal-Fontz http://www.crystalfontz.com (again
US).
Any opinions on which variants we should be looking at (ie. TN, STN......)?
