1. YES. (You cant use a phono input but all others are line inputs.)

2. Safely = YES. Whether you will be happy with the results are a
different matter. Depending on where the equipment is located and the
source impedance you may either get Earth Loops or hum pickup. This
can be avoided by using either Isolation transformers or KAT5 (other
products are available) to electrically isolate the two pieces of
equipment.

T&E. You are mis-remembering the words of Nigel Orr.
2.5mm T&E makes EXCELLENT speaker cable but is not very flexible.
Whilst it would work to get signals from A to B the results would be
inferior to CAT5 cable, it would be more expensive and extremely
difficult if not impossible to terminate to either Phono Plugs or
3.5mm Jacks !!!
