Have downloaded the updated driver but no joy yet...

Looking at the Wireless LAN card configuration under the
"advanced" tab I
get four possible "variables" to change.

1) Station Name.
2) Channel.
3) Transmit Rate.
4) Card Power Management.

1) I have no idea what to set it to ... I've tried "Compaq" (the
machine
name under windows), "047c4d" (the access point I.D. number) -
nothing seems
to make much of a difference.

2) is set to Channel 01 - same as the setting on the Access Point / Gateway
(as set by the ORiNOCO configuration software from a different PC).

3) is set to "Auto Rate Select"

4) is set to Off

I have tried turning off the Windows Internet Connection Firewall to see if
that helps but as soon as I turn it off (from the "Advanced" tab
of the
"Wireless Network Connection Properties" dialogue) then Windows
asks me if
I'm sure I want to turn it off (to which I answer "Yes") and then
as soon as
I swap tabs turns the f*cker back on again!

Any other ideas Tim?
