Best advice is....
 
1. Do IT!!! :-)
2. Do it yourself (with mates bribed with pizza)
 
JUST do the wiring...that's the bit you HAVE TO DO now.  It's a once in a lifetime deal.  Don't miss it.  You can do all the other stuff at your leisure after that. 
 
Run LOADS of the stuff everywhere.  I ran 2.5Kms of CAT5 but someone on the list was saying the other day they had used 6Kms or something like that!
 
lastly - take pictures so we can all see! :-)

I had previously seen the link, but completely forgot about it -
thanks for reminding me!

I also found that I lost a lot of direction getting some professional
quotes from various companies - by the time I had finished, the
quotes totalled up tens of thousands of pounds and they were intent
on selling me a complete fitted home cinema system - slightly more
than my flood wiring and custom panels for speaker outputs!

Still it's a daunting task starting a project like this and am still
dubious about even thinking about it...:)
