There are two main options that have been discussed here in the recent
past:
1: The "next" version of Keith's KAT5 will relay IR is the
opposite
direction to the direction it's relaying sound/vision. Retro-fit
upgrades should be available.
2: Ian Bird has some simplish (well beyond me, though) circuits that
send IR over CAT5 cabling. He's on this list so a search of the archives
should pull up some more info.
A wander through the archives, or an email to either of the gentlemen in
question, should get some more information.
