Hi,

Recieved from a trusted source, is a warning regarding a virus currently
doing the rounds.

Hope it's of help to you all.

Regards

Stuart

We've received a warning of a new virus which spreads as an e-mail
claiming to be a patch for Microsoft Outlook. If clicked on, the .exe
attachment will distribute itself to addresses taken from the address
book, as well as making changes to the local system which may re-format
the hard disk on the next reboot.

Subject lines reported for the e-mail include:

FW: Security Update by Microsoft.
FW: Microsoft security update.
FW: IT departments on state of HIGH ALERT.
FW: Important news from Microsoft.
FW: Stop terrorists computer viruses reign.
FW: Terrorists release computer virus.
FW: Emergency response from Microsoft Corp.
FW: Terrorist Emergency. Latest virus can wipe disk in minutes.
FW: Microsoft Update. Final Release Candidate.
FW: New computer virus.

If you are able to block mails based on these subjects then this is
probably a good intermediate measure until anti-virus definition files
are available. Reminding users not to click on attachments to unexpected
e-mail messages is also, and always, a good idea.
