And all of this 'cos I cant get my wheel mouse to work on my KVM switch!
 
I knew Keith would keep us educated.

ONLY if the mouse is a PS2/Serial Mouse.
 
PS2 uses two 5V signals Clock and Data
Serial uses 1200baud RS232
 
The two are totally incompatable but some mice can handle BOTH protocols.
 
Some PS2 mice are PS2 ONLY.
 
Likewise the PS2/USB mice will not work with a serial port.

confused. We are taking about pc mice aren't we.
 
They come with adapters in the box. The mice can then be used on a serial port or in a ps2 port.
