To give you an idea of what I have in mind it will be like the CD250 here:

but around four times the width, so it will store 1000 CDs, 500 DVDs or a
combination of the two.

These guys want several hundred pounds for one. John reckons that you
should
be able to buy the wood and glass and pay a friendly chippy to make one
four
around 100-200 quid.
