Re: 1u and 2u rackmount chassis

Mark,

If you go for the 1u box then you're pretty limited to micro or extended atx mobo's. These will always tend to come with built in video, network, sound etc thus limiting the number of cards needed. The 2u box however, can take normal atx mobos so long as they are no larger than 12"x13".

The 1u boxes can take 1 extra pci card using a riser card:

However the 2u boxes can take two pci cards

"Slide Rail Applicable" means you can stick one of these jobbies on:

What does "Slide Rail Applicable" mean?

How many cards can you get in a 1U or 2U case?

Thanks

M.

Guys and Gals,

I've found a website in the US that sells rackmount chassis for build your
own boffins...

https://www.compute-aid.com/order.htm

A friend and I are going to order four 2U machines and a few extra bits and
bobs. I know they do a "The more you order, the lower the price" type deal
so if anyone else would like to jump in on this and bulk buy then drop me an
email.

I'll hold off on our order for about a week so all you jet setters can drop
me a line if you're interested.

Regards,

Jules
