I believe you are talking about the 9x range of windows when anything above
128Mb of ram was not used correctly and as you said in fact tended to slow
the machine down

I heard that there are problems with 512MB ram in windows - like it will
actually run slower ? Anyone know if there is truth to this and which
versions of windows are affected.

Is this your main desktop machine Keith or your HA server?

900Mhz Duron is 44 quid + vat these days on ebuyer.com  (just noticed a
HALF GIG of PC133 RAM is 29.99 + these days!).

I think it will HAVE to be 98SE.

Just looked on the machine at work to see how much space is taken by the
OS
and Applications I need on it and the disk isnt big enough :-(

Mobo wont support anything bigger than 8.4G.

Time for a new machine.

yeah but was it a P150 overclocked to hell to be a 200 thats what Keith
has, I think it would run like a dog.

Absolutely!  I ran it on P233 MMX with 128meg for over a year and it was
great.
